I’m so excited to work with you and learn more about your sweet dog!
Your commissioned painting will be one-of-a-kind. I put a ton of love into each painting, and focus on all of the little details. There is no other dog just like yours, and your painting will be just as unique. Your painting belongs to YOU! Your dog’s image will never be used on prints or novelty items.
We’ll start getting to know each other through the Contact page. Pop over there and I’ll ask for basic information and you will email a bunch of photos to info@metalandgrace.com
Once I receive these two items, I’ll be able to give you feedback about painting your dog, and together we can come up with a plan. I want to know all of the details about your unique dog, and I’m happy to hop on a call if you’d like!
I typically paint on square canvases, but occasionally the long shape of a dogs head and ears can look better on a rectangular canvas. My goal is to fill up as much of the canvas as possible with your dog’s face, and to have minimal empty background space. All canvases are extra deep (1.5 inches) gallery-wrapped canvas. This means that they are ready to hang and do not require a frame.
The best photos to send are close up, clear photos taken when you are at eye level with your dog. Headshots are preferred, as headshots are what I paint. Please aim for photos where your dog is facing the camera straight-on or their head is at just a slight tilt. I LOVE painting smiles, teeth, silly quirks, and wonky ears so don’t be shy! Is your dog serious and stoic? That’ll work too! The more photos the merrier, and let me know which photos are your favorites.
Once we’ve come up with a plan, I’ll recommend a square vs. rectangular canvas and you can order on the Shop page.
I’ll send photo updates along the way as I am painting, unless you prefer to be surprised!
